Sir Keir Starmer has said that Labour will cancel flights to Rwanda immediately if he becomes Prime Minister at the next election.
Labour have opposed the Conservative government's plan to send people arriving illegally in England to Rwanda to process their asylum claims, an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to frustrate a policy that will save lives.
The French government have failed to prevent illegal crossings of the Channel - often actively helping boats to reach English waters - with tragic consequences. The risk of ending up in Rwanda rather than Rotherham is an important deterrent to illegal immigration and Keir Starmer wants to throw that away.
In 2003, Sir Keir Starmer successfully fought his own government for the right of illegal immigrants to claim benefits when they make asylum claims to avoid deportation, something that has cost the taxpayer billions and opened the floodgates to bogus asylum claims.
Same old Labour, same old Keir.
