There is no such thing as a typical week.
I attended a parish council meeting to dry run and critique the switch to on line banking - changing from the cheques Newport has used...since there have been cheques. It's a very very serious move, and we're thinking and thinking how we can avoid mistakes and limit the opportunities for fraud down to zero.
We had the first Telford and Wrekin council environment scrutiny meeting of this 4 year cycle, setting the 'work programme'. Very important and interesting project planned to call Severn Trent and the Environment Agency to account regarding Sewage. I have helped define the questions we must ask to get the truth out of the 'Corporates'. I have confirmed this remit has been extended to water bodies, such as the pools and lakes in Telford, and, the canal in Newport
I have had two sessions with Newport in Bloom, mopping up the spare and extra hanging baskets 'the man with hi-viz and ladders' . It's nice to be helpful. Good to a new addition to Newports high street 'Brocton care', have ordered two new baskets, and the brackets to fit them, and thank you to Novella Lounge café bar for adding a basket to their frontage - which is the old Barclays bank - and before that, was one of Newports many coaching Inns.
I attended the Wrekin Conservative Association AGM on Thursday. Complex times. Our conservative values don't change, and since human nature doesn't change, they remain deeply valid and relevant.
I help my Councillor surgery today in Newport library at Newport library. Had some nice visitors, and some things to follow up on. Great feedback about the High St olive trees in half barrels.
And on Sunday, it's Newport Town Council's Civic Sunday church service and parade. A little bit of civic dignity. It's the Mayor's show. I remember mine. It seems like forever ago.
Busy week, not so untypical!
